Meeting with the Doctors

Today we met with Dad's doctors and discussed his current status. The plan from this point forward, which has been our prayer all along, is to bring dad home. In order to do this, we need to get him off all of the machines he is on. The docs are slowly weening him off his heart balloon pump, the respirator and all of the drugs that are assisting him. Our plan is that if anything fails in the process we are not going to go back. As you can imagine we are definatley working on God's time, all in hopes that we will be abloe to spend our last moments with Dad at home.
They started reducing his balloon pump this afternoon, last I checked he was at 1:8 (which means his heart beats 8 times to every 1 time that the pump beats for him). When he first came in he was at 1:1. Right now as I am typing they are taking the balloon pump completely out of dad's Heart (insert silent prayer now).

In order to remove the respirator they have to reduce the sedatives off of Dad, which means he will start to be more coherent. They have to do this so that he can start to try to breath on his own. We are hoping that we can remove it tomorrow. All of this stuff has to be removed in order to get Dad home.

He did wake up temprarily today and was being responsive which was awesome. So as they reduce the sedation we should see more of that over the next couple of days, which will be great for the family.

I had the thought today that Dad is hearing our prayers for us to get him home and that is why he is making the fight right now.I believe this is a testament to the man that he is, anything that his family ever wanted in life he would fight like crazy to give to us!!! It's in his blood. We have the knowledge again that God is driving this thing and that if we don't get him home than that is okay, because we all believe Dad has fought long and hard his entire life and it is okay for him to rest now.

So with that bit of information I will post back tomorrow A.M. to let everyone know how he is doing off of the pump. Thank you again for all of your love, support and prayers. You can't imagine how much it has helped us endure this. We love you.
